Armature is the rotating part of a DC electrical machine and one of the principal components of the DC machine’s electromagnetic system. Armatures are comprised of four major parts: steel shaft, steel laminated core, copper windings, and copper-segment commutator. Armatures are designed as a component of a specific DC machine for operation in a compatible frame.
