Global Sourcing Specialist

The Global Sourcing Specialist identifies, evaluates, and manages suppliers worldwide to meet the company’s procurement needs. This position works to optimize the supply chain, reduce costs, and ensure the timely delivery of quality products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify potential suppliers globally through research, networking, and market analysis.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, financial stability, and production capacity.
  • Assess the supplier’s adherence to quality and compliance standards.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favourable agreements, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Draft, review, and manage supplier contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in supplier contracts.
  • Analyze costs associated with the procurement process and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics and production, to optimize the supply chain and minimize lead times.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Monitor and maintain supplier performance in quality, on-time delivery, and adherence to specifications.
  • Implement quality control measures and continuous improvement programs.
  • Stay updated on market trends, industry developments, and emerging sourcing opportunities.
  • Identify new sourcing opportunities and potential suppliers to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to global sourcing, including geopolitical, economic, and logistical risks.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, fostering collaboration and mutual benefit.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including procurement, production, and finance teams.
  • Ensure that sourcing practices adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Monitor and report on supplier compliance with established codes of conduct.
  • Understand product classifications such as HS, HTS, and SIC.
  • Create a Qualified List of Potential Suppliers.
  • Track competitors’ imports and exports.
  • Proactively Monitor Supplier Activity.
  • Find ways to communicate effectively with low-cost countries, overcoming language barriers and other challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary in supply chain management, business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in global sourcing and procurement, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Cross-cultural communication skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Understanding of international trade regulations
  • Proficiency in English and possibly other relevant languages
  • Organizational skills for managing complex sourcing projects
  • Time management abilities to handle different time zones and deadlines
  • Ability to track progress and report on key performance indicators
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using procurement and supply chain management software.
  • Understanding of international trade regulations and logistics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent search skills and knowledge of tools to expand suppliers in low-cost countries.
  • Good understanding of product classifications such as HS, HTS, SIC, and others.
  • Ability to grow company market share, reduce costs in the supply chain, generate business intelligence, and save valuable time.
